The WCR Brace is the Wood Cheneau Rigo Brace which has been developed using Grant Wood’s 18 years of experience in working with the Cheneau brace. He has added the use of the Rigo Classification of scoliosis and brace design (developed by Dr. Manual Rigo) to hand rectify his own custom-made scoliosis braces. Mr. Wood developed this brace especially for the U.S. patient, and has a unique casting technique which improves the fit, comfort, and function of the brace, which provides optimum 3-D correction of scoliosis.
This was accomplished while maintaining all of the original brace shapes and concepts of Dr.Rigo. The brace was designed to produce a clinical outcome that is effective in producing a three dimensional correction as well as pleasing cosmetic effects under clothing.
The designs for this brace have been hand made by Grant Wood of which he incorporates the skills that he has learned from Manual Rigo during the last two decades. Grant has also had the pleasure of being trained by Dr. Cheneau in the 1990s. Each WCR brace that we use at Bay Orthopedic Scoliosis Clinic is personally built by Grant Wood himself and each case is personally reviewed by Grant Wood of California and his protégé Michael Mangino of New York. The collaboration of these two practitioners with their combined sixty years of Scoliosis Brace building experience has effectively brought the European teachings of Dr’s. Rigo and Cheneau to the United States. This East Coast and West Coast connection has brought a considerable convenience factor to the hundreds of WCR brace wearers across the nation.
